Beaten rice, locally called chiura is an inseparable part of our cuisine. It’s not just another food- chiura is also our tradition and culture. Even today, when farmers work on the field all day long, they enjoy their lunch- chiura and curry. It’s been in our civilization for a longer time than we can imagine. Especially in the Newari culture, chiura is valued as a major dish during the feast.
